Why GA4 Totals Differ From TrafficCreator Hits
TrafficCreator's "delivered" count measures visits sent, while GA4 counts sessions, users, and events using its own logic (bounces, ad blockers, sampling, and processing delay) — some difference between the two numbers is normal and expected, not a sign of a problem.
Why This Happens#
- Hits vs. sessions vs. users are different units. One TrafficCreator visit is one hit; GA4 may count it as a session, and a session isn't always counted as a full "user" the same way.
- Processing delay: GA4 standard reports can take 24-48 hours to fully settle; comparing same-day numbers will show a gap that closes over the next day or two.
- Ad blockers or script-blocking configurations on the destination site can prevent the GA4 tag from firing even though the visit happened.
- GA4 filters (internal traffic exclusions, test data filters) can quietly remove some visits from what you see in reports.
Steps To Compare Fairly#
- Compare TrafficCreator's delivered count to GA4 sessions, not "users" (users and sessions are different metrics by design).
- Wait at least 24-48 hours before treating a gap as a real discrepancy.
- Check GA4's Data Filters for internal-traffic or testing filters that might be excluding some traffic.
