Connect ChatGPT to Traffic Creator

Add Traffic Creator to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server. You sign in with your Traffic Creator account; ChatGPT doesn't use API keys.

Before You Start#

  • Set it up in ChatGPT on the web, at chatgpt.com.
  • Which plans can add their own MCP server, and whether ChatGPT may also change things or only read, depends on your plan and workspace. OpenAI documents full support (reading and changing) for Business, Enterprise and Edu, still in beta. On Pro, ChatGPT can only read. OpenAI doesn't say whether Plus, Go or Free can add a server. On Business, only admins and owners can add one; on Enterprise and Edu, your admin has to give you permission first.

Add Traffic Creator#

  1. Open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins).
  2. Click +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Enter the name Traffic Creator and, under Connection, the server URL https://traffic-creator.com/mcp.
  4. Under Authentication, choose OAuth.
  5. Read the warning, click I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
  6. Install the plugin. When ChatGPT asks you to connect (this can already happen while it creates the plugin), the Traffic Creator sign-in opens: sign in, choose Full access or Read only, and click Allow.

In Traffic Creator it now appears under API & MCP → Connected apps.

If you don't see Add custom MCP server, your plan or workspace doesn't allow it yet. On some accounts it only appears after you turn on Developer mode (Settings → Apps → Advanced settings). In a workspace, ask your admin.

Use It in a Chat#

Type @ in the message box and choose Traffic Creator, then ask, for example:

  • "How many visits did my campaigns get yesterday?"
  • "Pause every campaign that ends this week."

Approvals#

By default, ChatGPT asks for your confirmation before an action that changes something, such as creating, changing, pausing or resuming a campaign. Creating and resuming spend credits, so check the cost preview before you confirm. On a personal account, you can set how often ChatGPT asks under Settings → Plugins → Permissions (on some accounts it's under Apps). In a workspace, your admin decides.

Disconnect or Remove#

  • In ChatGPT: Settings → Plugins → Traffic Creator, then Disconnect (under Connected accounts → ••• or Connection). To remove the plugin too, open it and choose Uninstall plugin. Uninstalling alone may leave the connection in place.
  • In Traffic Creator: API & MCP → Connected apps → Disconnect. Access ends at once.

Changing your Traffic Creator password or signing out everywhere also disconnects ChatGPT; connect it again afterwards.

Troubleshooting#

ProblemWhat to check
No option to add a custom MCP serverYour plan or workspace doesn't allow it yet. On some accounts, turning on Developer mode helps; in a workspace, ask your admin.
ChatGPT can read but not create or changeIf you connected with Read only, disconnect under API & MCP → Connected apps and connect again with Full access. If your plan only allows reading, or your admin turned off write actions, reconnecting won't change that.
