What Is Direct Traffic?
Direct traffic is traffic that arrives with no identifiable referrer, UTM parameters, or campaign data — GA4 attributes it to "Direct" by default.
Why It Matters In TrafficCreator#
If a project's Traffic Source is set to Direct and no UTM parameters are configured, delivered visits show up in GA4 as Direct traffic. Adding UTM parameters changes this attribution to your specified source/campaign instead.
Example#
A project with no UTM parameters set and Traffic Source = Direct appears in GA4's Acquisition report as Direct / (none).
