What Is a Canonical URL?

A canonical URL is the page a site owner designates as the primary version when duplicate or near-duplicate content exists at multiple addresses, telling search engines which one to index and rank.

Why It Matters In TrafficCreator#

If your target URL has multiple accessible variants (with/without trailing slash, with tracking parameters, etc.), make sure your site's canonical tags point to the version you actually want traffic and analytics data associated with.

Example#

If https://example.com/page and https://example.com/page/ both load the same content, a canonical tag tells search engines which one is authoritative.
